The intern will play a critical role in supporting OBHPP's grant portfolio by conducting research, analyzing data, synthesizing evidence, and assisting with program monitoring and evaluation activities related to the office's seven priority focus areas.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
* Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans related to behavioral health promotion and prevention
* Research evidence-based and promising practices aligned with OBHPP's seven grant focus areas.
* Support the review, synthesis, and analysis of grantee reports and program outcomes.
* Assist in developing research briefs, issue papers, and summary reports for leadership and stakeholders.
* Analyze state and national behavioral health data to identify trends, disparities, and emerging needs.
* Support the development of performance measures and evaluation frameworks for funded initiatives.
* Assist with grant monitoring activities, including reviewing programmatic deliverables and identifying implementation trends.
* Develop presentations, data visualizations, and briefing materials for internal and external audiences.
* Participate in meetings with community partners, grantees, and interagency stakeholders as appropriate.
* Contribute to special projects related to behavioral health promotion, prevention, and health equity
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
* Experience conducting literature reviews and synthesizing complex information.
* Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
* Knowledge of behavioral health promotion, prevention science, and health equity principles.
* Experience using Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, Stata, or Tableau) is preferred.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
* Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Period of Service:
May 26, 2026, through September 04, 2026
Additional Information:
* Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.
* All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit.
* The salary for this position is $19- 27 an hour.
* Hours:
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Days Off:
Saturday and Sunday

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines.
