Position Summary

Neighbor Health is seeking an experienced title to serve as Dental Assistant Lead. Under the supervision of the Administrative Director and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Dental Assistant Lead is expected to perform all the essential duties and responsibilities of the Dental Assistant, as well as administrative responsibilities assigned by the Administrative Director, and as needed by the Dental department.

You'll Do

The Dental Assistant Lead will participate in direct patient care activities as directed by a Dentist, as well as orders and puts away supplies to maintain par levels to meet department needs, promotes a sense of 'teamwork' through demonstration of self-direction and self-motivation, solves problems independently or knows when to seek consultation, and acts as a resource and role model to staff.

The

successful candidate will be able to perform the following responsibilities
  • All duties and responsibilities of dental assistants as outlined by the Board of Registration in Dentistry regulations manual according to level of training, including but not limited to:
    • Prepares for sessions and ensures all charts, equipment and x-rays are available for the provider and the patient
    • Disinfects, Cleans, packages, and sterilizes contaminated equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures as outlined by Neighbor Health
    • Properly document all infection control and sterilization activities as required
    • Set up and break down all exam rooms as outlined in Neighbor Health policies
    • Transports sterilized instruments from the clean room and distributes them evenly among the operatories. Rotates instruments when stocking
    • In charge of taking vitals and documenting on new and recall patients and on patients with extensive medical history
    • Proficient and certified in taking digital x-rays on adults and children
    • Responsible for weekly and monthly maintenance as outlined: flushing the lines and changing the traps weekly and documenting appropriately Responsible for shocking the lines weekly and flushing the solution out the next day with water. Documentation in logbook required
    • On a weekly basis check all instrument pouches for holes, stains, and outdated labels (sterility integrity). Check all dental materials for expired items
  • Coordinates ordering supplies for the department
  • Orders and puts away supplies to maintain par levels to meet department needs.
  • Reports on safety and equipment problems, malfunctions, or missing equipment
  • Responsible for onboarding new dental assistants and assisting with resident / provider onboarding
  • Proficient in Wisdom in all DA required tasks: i.e.:
    Tooth charting, documentation etc.
  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of autoclaves, ultrasonic and Hydrim and logs appropriately
  • Acts as a resource and role model to staff

What You'll Bring
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Dental Assistant Certification
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Dental Assistant with at least 6 months at Neighbor Health
  • Meets all Dental Assistant skills in addition to demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Salary

Starting at $24.15 up to $36.50 based on experience.
