Dental Assistant – Periodontal Surgical Assistant

Back Bay Periodontics & Dental Implants | Boston, MA🌐 📍 In‑office | Full‑time | Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm

What You’ll Do

As a Periodontal Surgical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our periodontist and clinical team throughout surgical and nonsurgical periodontal procedures. Your responsibilities will include:

    Assisting the periodontist during periodontal and implant procedures

    Performing preoperative and postoperative patient care duties

    Preparing treatment rooms and maintaining a sterile clinical environment

    Supporting an unobstructed operative field using suction, retractors, and irrigation

    Preparing, inspecting, and sterilizing instruments and equipment

    Obtaining and processing dental radiographs and imaging as needed

    Monitoring patient comfort and status during procedures

    Reviewing postoperative instructions and reinforcing care guidance with patients

    Completing accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives

    Coordinating supplies and equipment to ensure smooth daily operations

    Supporting additional clinical responsibilities as assigned

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Licensed Dental Assistant in the state of Massachusetts (required)
    Massachusetts Dental Radiology Certification (required)
    Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
    Strong attention to detail with a focus on patient safety and infection control

    Excellent manual dexterity and clinical precision

    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced periodontal setting

    Professional, calm, and compassionate demeanor with patients

    Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills

    Basic computer proficiency and comfort with clinical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

    Prior periodontal or surgical dental assisting experience is beneficialDAANCE certification is a plus
