Dental Hygienist

Job Type: Full-Time Contract-13 weeks with possible extension

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive dental care, including dental cleanings, scaling, and root planing
  .
• Expose and process dental radiographs as required.
• Administer local anesthesia
  , fluoride, and other therapeutic agents in accordance with applicable standards and scope of practice.
• Review and update patient medical histories and identify potential contraindications.
• Request medical clearance when necessary.
• Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and dental charting
  .
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, home care, tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional strategies.
• Review treatment plans and oral healthcare recommendations with patients.
• Prepare and break down operatories and treatment areas before and after each patient.
• Follow all OSHA standards, infection control practices, blood borne pathogen protocols, and universal precautions
  .
• Inspect instruments for sterility and perform required sterilization and operatory disinfection procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements
  .
• Collect and document patient and clinical data accurately.

Required Qualifications

• Vocational, Technical, or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene or a related program.
• 1-3 years of relevant dental hygiene experience
  .
• Active Dental Hygienist license in the State of Massachusetts
  .
• Current licensure and/or certification must remain valid throughout the assignment.
• Experience with dental cleanings, scaling, root planing, radiographs, periodontal assessments, and patient education.
• Strong knowledge of dental infection control and sterilization procedures.
