Core Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Architect to serve as our firm's technical expert and Quality Control (QC) Manager. This critical role is responsible for reviewing the technical aspects, detailing, and constructability of all projects from Design Development through Construction Documents. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between design intent and technical execution, ensuring all projects meet firm standards, constructability, building codes, and client specifications, ultimately minimizing risk and improving construction quality.

Technical Reviews (QA/QC): Conduct thorough reviews of drawings, specifications, and contract documents for all projects to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with building codes, ADA and municipal regulations.

Detailing Standards: Develop, maintain, and enforce the firm’s standard details and drafting standards to ensure best practices to ensure consistency across the firm.

Technical Guidance: Serve as the internal subject matter expert, advising project teams on complex technical problems, material selection, and construction methodologies.

Constructability Analysis: Evaluate designs early in the process to identify potential construction challenges and offer solutions before construction documents are finalized.

Coordination Oversight: Review the coordination between architectural, structural, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and all other consultant designed systems to identify clashes, clarify coordination, and eliminate errors.

Mentorship: Provide mentorship and training to junior and intermediate staff regarding technical design, code compliance, and detailing.

Risk Mitigation: Actively identify, communicate, and mitigate risks in documentation to reduce liability and prevent costly rework during construction.

Lessons Learned: Document lessons learned from construction administration (RFI, submittal reviews) and project close-outs to update firm standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

License: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, and a valid Architect license (Registered Architect) is preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in architectural design, construction documents, and construction administration.

Technical Proficiency: Proven expert-level knowledge of building systems, materials, and construction techniques.

Software: High proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam (or similar PDF annotation tools).

Code Knowledge: Strong, updated knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and accessibility requirements.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering constructive feedback to project teams.
