Job Description & How to Apply Below

Fogarty Finger (FF) is an interdisciplinary design studio of over 145 architects and designers dedicated to placemaking within the urban built environment. Founded in 2003, FF is responsible for many prominent residential and commercial projects throughout the United States, with offices in New York, Atlanta, and Boston.

We believe beautiful spaces build great experiences. Our projects are equally evocative and pragmatic - designed to be enjoyed by everyone. We design for the long term and create thoughtful buildings and interiors with timeless appeal.

About the Role

FF is seeking a talented Intermediate Designer to join our Commercial Interiors studio in the Boston office. You will work closely with senior staff to take part in design development, consultant coordination, and project management across all phases – from schematic design through construction administration. The right candidate brings a balance of technical rigor and design sensibility, paired with strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

This is a role with real responsibilities and a clear path toward greater project ownership over time.

What You’ll Do
  • Participate in design reviews across all project phases, contributing to the development and advancement of design intent
  • Support the selection of materials and finishes, ensuring alignment with design intent
  • Develop technical solutions and construction details in close collaboration with the design team
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and other regulatory standards throughout all documentation phases
  • Prepare drawing sets and 3D models in Revit in accordance with FF’s documentation and BIM standards
  • Coordinate consultants’ drawings, deliverables, and schedules during DD, CD, and CA phases
  • Provide CA responsibilities, including field coordination with trades and consultants, site surveys, shop drawings, and submittal review, RFIs, and construction sketches
  • Manage multiple tasks and schedules across concurrent projects with competing deadlines
  • Proactively identify potential issues, document concerns clearly, elevate to senior team members, and propose resolutions
What You Bring
  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
  • 3–7 years of relevant professional experience at a similar architecture or interior design firm
  • Experience across a range of project types, including high-end commercial, amenity/hospitality, and workplace interiors
  • Ability to translate design concepts into constructible, real-world solutions
  • Solid understanding of building systems, materials, construction methods, and interior detailing
  • Working knowledge of local building codes, ADA requirements, and other applicable standards
  • Demonstrated experience producing construction documentation, including CD packages and permit sets
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, and contractors
  • Basic working knowledge of MEP and lighting
  • Experience running a project from initial concept through CA
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present confidently in both internal and client-facing settings
  • Proficiency in Revit required; working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering programs (Rhino, Sketch Up, Enscape, or V-Ray)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Hardworking, detail-oriented, and independently motivated, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Active pursuit of architectural licensure (ARE) or NCIDQ certification is preferred
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Why Join FF?

Fogarty Finger has never stopped growing — and neither will you. Since our founding, we've expanded steadily across New York, Atlanta, and Boston, taking on a remarkable breadth of project types along the way. Joining our Boston studio means genuine exposure to the full arc of design, from early concept through construction administration, across residential, commercial, workplace, and hospitality work. You won't be pigeon-holed into a single phase or project type — you'll be in the room for all of it.

Our downtown Boston studio is home to a talented, diverse team that brings real energy and creative generosity to the work every day. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package — but more than that, we offer a place where your contributions are seen, your growth is supported, and the work is worth doing.
