Senior Facilities Planner | Boston Childrens Hospital

Serves as the lead planner and project manager for the Hospital, executing the Facilities Management Department's planning, design, and project management functions. Researches and prepares a wide range of facility studies and provides input in Master Planning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as facilities planner, managing both space planning and creating cost-effective conceptual designs consistent with the Facilities Master Plan and standards
  • Assisting with updates of the Master Facilities Plan. Managing the Hospital User Groups, Hospital Engineering, and consulting architectural and engineering team through the entire planning process, including final sign-off, issuing of Construction drawings, and the seamless transition to Project Management and Construction
  • Leading architectural code review to include compliance of plans with building codes, ADA, and the Department of Public Health minimum standards. Planning review submissions and approvals, facility licensure submissions, and Determination of Need submissions
  • Managing and leading the Interior Design, Wayfinding, and Artwork processes within Facilities Management. Leading and directing the Hospital Standards program and design guideline process
  • Assisting the Director with the management of the Archibus/Autocad and space inventory systems
  • Serving as project manager on assigned projects working with departments to develop conceptual designs and prepares budget estimates. Overseeing project development through design, bidding, construction, and punch list. Coordinating the work of outside architects/engineers, contractors, and support personnel. Working with Project Management and Engineering to ensure compliance with design objectives. Participating in the annual capital process
  • Accepting and supporting standing and special assignments. Representing Facilities Management Office on various hospital committees, as required. Serving as the lead facilities planner, managing both space planning and creating cost-effective conceptual designs consistent with the Facilities Master Plan and standards

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related field and 7+ years of experience, and at least 3+ years in a clinical environment

Experience:

  • Strong analytical skills to be able to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/divisional lines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Hybrid/Remote available

Certifications:

An Architectural licensure or professional NCIDQ certification preferred
