Lab Planner

National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Lab Planner to join their Boston office. The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.

The ideal candidate will have between 3-5 years of professional experience. As you pursue your path to architectural licensure, consider expanding your knowledge in the design and planning of multiple technologically advanced, state-of-the-future laboratory projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building your knowledge of laboratory design topics while providing support to the architectural and lab planning staff, with the goal of becoming an expert in this special field;
  • Developing and providing technical planning expertise and, eventually, leadership for laboratory projects;
  • Being involved in programming, design, fit-out planning, major equipment planning, building systems integration, laboratory casework systems design and specification, and construction administration;
  • Preparing architectural documents, elevations, sections, and details and modifying those documents as required;
  • Assisting in preparation of 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and models;
  • Attending and eventually leading, laboratory planning meetings with design team and clients;
  • Experience collaborative work processes with other offices; and
  • Integrating and advancing sustainable design solutions into high-technology facilities.

Plus have these skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent degree
  • Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Suite, Sketch Up and Microsoft
  • Basic knowledge of design, construction documents, construction administration and project construction
  • Interest in sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable with working in a team environment
  • Well organized and ability to effectively meet deadlines
