Responsibilities Leadership- Conducts programming efforts such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting, and color coordination.
- Develops innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes and function.
- Implements all phases of a design project including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, specifications, and construction.
- Maintains positive client relationships and keeps clients apprised of project progress.
- Responsible for selection and specification of furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering, and artwork.
- Estimates material requirements and costs.
- Solicits bids and assists the Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of materials.
- Leads the Construction Administration phase, responding to RFIs, COs, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting field site reviews.
- Manages projects using Deltek Vision, including work plans, budgets, schedules, and fees.
- Ensures project documentation and contracts comply with Technical Board standards.
- Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions and fosters a green workplace.
- Renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
- Prepares, corrects, and updates documents during schematic design, design development, and construction administration phases.
- Coordinates color and material palettes.
- Produces written documentation including agreements, meeting documentation, and transmittals using HOK standard formats.
- Reviews documents for adherence to building and ADA codes.
- Communicates with consultants, contractors, and sub-consultants to ensure project details are carried out.
- Represents the client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
- Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff.
- Explores and identifies new opportunities to enhance professional services with existing clients.
- Participates in marketing and business development opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or foreign equivalent.
- 6+ years of experience as an Interior Designer in a design, architecture, engineering, or planning firm (offices, airports, hospitals, sports venues, schools, labs, etc.).
- Must be a professional Interior Designer and have passed the NCIDQ exam or be a registered Architect with a current license.
- If a registered Architect, NCARB registration is preferred.
- LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.
- Travel will be required.
- Overtime will be required.
