AECOM Buildings + Places Boston/New England’s architecture practice includes aviation, transit, research/science, higher education and federal/state/local government projects. AECOM is seeking a creative, experienced Designer or Architect III to help solve design and technical issues while leading task teams contributing to project delivery. Traditionally labelled “job captain” in the profession, a person in this role will be involved in project development and deliverables from conceptual studies through full design and construction administration, as well as guiding others to follow best practices in the same.

As part of diverse teams, this role will help organize and execute business development efforts, meet client goals, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards, in coordination with Project Managers, lead designers, Principals, BIM leaders, QA/QC reviewers and other practice leadership.

Leads and organizes architectural drawing sets across SD, DD, CD, and CA phases, meeting client/design/firm goals and deadlines

Applies industry knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles and technical capabilities

Has a strong commitment to meeting responsibilities, plus a positive, helpful outlook and ideas to contribute to a team

Possesses strong skills acquired through advanced training, study and experience

Professionally licensed in architecture or actively pursuing licensure

Under the direction of the Supervising Architect / Designer Completes assigned work independently and receives/applies general guidance and direction on new projects, tasks and priorities

Analyzes issues and identifies solutions using existing techniques, and proposes approaches for novel issues

Coordinates the work with other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.

Exercises independent judgement in determining how work is performed; review and approve conceptual designs as required.
