Part-Time Child Protection Team Pediatrician​/Family Medicine Physician​/Advanced Practice Nurse

Summary/About the Role

The Department of Pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and Boston Medical Center (BMC) seek a Pediatrician, Family Medicine Physician, or Advanced Practice Nurse to join the BMC Child Protection Team. The Child Protection Team is a multidisciplinary team that covers all patients at BMC and provides consultation for BMC Health Systems hospitals and affiliated community health centers.

The position involves the full scope of child maltreatment, including evaluation of patients in the emergency department, inpatient, and outpatient settings at Boston Medical Center as well as evaluation of patients in Foster Care Clinic and Child Protection Team outpatient clinic. Phone consultation provided to members of the multidisciplinary team throughout the BMC Health System and affiliated health centers. Teaching responsibilities include medical students, residents, and other learners in other programs at Boston Medical Center.

Applicants should have clinical expertise serving patients and families impacted by trauma, family disruption, and carceral systems;

experience advocating for systems-based change is desired. Our multidisciplinary, collaborative approach seeks to encourage thoughtful and deliberative decision-making that centers patient and family well-being. The Pediatric and Internal Medicine Departments are centers of excellence for care of children and adults. Boston University Medical Campus is comprised of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Boston University School of Public Health, Boston University School of Dentistry and Boston Medical Center, the main teaching affiliate of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Candidates with BC/BE in Child Abuse Pediatrics are preferred. Physician candidates (MD/DO) must be BC/BE in Pediatrics and must have or be eligible for a Massachusetts medical license. Highly qualified Advanced Practice Nurses will be considered. Fluency in languages other than English is highly desirable, but not required. Preference for candidates whose approach to child maltreatment is consonant with the framework outlined above.

This is an 0.5 FTE position. For the remainder of effort required for additional clinical FTE, opportunities in pediatrics or other clinical departments may also be available. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor level in the Clinical series will be determined based on the background and qualifications.

Compensation ranges between $90,039 and $150,580. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and departmental budget. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
