Position Title: Hybrid ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Teachers:
Beginners and low intermediate levels, evening class.
Position Type: Part-time
ESOL Teacher position: (Beginners and low intermediate)
Evening Teacher: 6:30-9:00pm, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays September-June 2026
15 hours of paid teacher time per week: 7.5-9 hours teaching, 6 hours lesson planning and prep
Teaching in-person/Zoom and with Google Classroom
Paid bi-monthly staff meetings

Come and make a difference in people’s lives! The YMCA ILC (International Learning Center) Woburn has been helping immigrants learn English and develop employment skills to improve their lives for 25 years. The YMCA has recently received additional funding to support new immigrants in the Woburn area learn English and employment skills. These classes will begin in mid-late January and will continue until the beginning of June.
Key Responsibilities- Teach ESOL to adults of diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds
- Deliver engaging and contextualized lessons which integrate academic and employment skills utilizing the YMCA ILC’s curriculum.
- Provide a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters students’ language production.
- Present clear objectives and agendas to students for each class.
- Collaborate with Career Advisors to ensure that all students are progressing with their personal, education, and career goals.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments regularly to evaluate students’ progress
- Utilize Google Classroom to promote digital literacy.
- Communicate classroom/student issues to Program Director in a timely manner.
- Keep accurate and timely attendance records
- Provide progress reports to students twice a year
- Document weekly lesson plans
- Attend bi-weekly staff meetings
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required;
Education background preferred - TESOL, TEFL, TESL and CELTA certificates accepted
- Eligible to live and work in the US
- Sensitive to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues
- Effective communication skills and classroom management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Zoom.
- Bilingual a plus
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear
- The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
