Description:
The Department of English invites applications for instructor positions in the Composition Program for the AY . All positions are for one semester in the first instance with the possibility of renewal as department needs require. Applicants should have experience teaching first-year composition and be willing to teach both ENGL
101 and ENGL
102. Preference will be given to those with graduate-level coursework in composition pedagogy. Instructors are expected to utilize Blackboard to submit a course syllabus, order textbooks or other reading materials, provide developmentally meaningful feedback, present engaging learning experiences, respond to students in a timely manner, communicate regularly with designated academic program director, submit final grades within university deadlines, and comply with other requests as a part-time lecturer such as completing an attestation and disclosure form and annual performance evaluations.
The salary is based on a per-credit-hour value. Composition courses are three credit hours. Applicants should submit one document containing a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and at least one sample syllabus for a first-year composition course. Review of applications will begin upon receipt and continue until the positions are filled.
