Flute Overview
The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is seeking teaching artists to teach flute sectionals for the Band Program for the NEMPAC/Eliot School Partnership for the 2025‑2026 school year. The teaching artists should love working with students ages 10‑13. We are looking for enthusiastic and organized individuals.
The Teaching Artists will work with the EBP students in their small group classes during the last period of the school day from 2–3 pm at the Eliot School in the North End.
Teaching Day(s) Available: Tuesdays
Plus 2‑3 performances between January and June, exact dates TBD.
Compensation: $50–$54 hr DOE (W2)
Teaching
Responsibilities Include:
- Teach a small group of 3–8 students how to play the relevant instrument and troubleshoot repertoire pieces once the Band Director begins to introduce them. For the first third of the program, students will work only with teaching artists in their small group sectionals.
- Work with the Band Director to ensure repertoire is being worked on after a certain period of introductory instrument learning.
- Communicate with the Band Director to ensure progress and timeline of proficiency in the instrument is being met.
- Provide curriculum to the Band Director in a timely manner.
- At least one year of teaching experience or relevant experience in chosen instrument required; group instruction experience preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree or working toward a bachelor's degree in music performance or education preferred. (College seniors, recent grads, and graduate students highly encouraged to apply!)
- Teaching artists should be sensitive to individual student needs and have exceptional communication and time‑management skills.
