Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Education Access & Student Support Consultant (Part Time Volunteer)

No Barriers Education Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to removing barriers to post-secondary education for students from underserved and historically marginalized backgrounds. We support students who are first-generation, low-income, immigrants, formerly or currently in foster care, experiencing homelessness, parenting students, and those who may have dropped out of high school or taken nontraditional paths to education.

Our mission is to make post-secondary education and career readiness more accessible, affordable, and achievable by connecting students with mentorship, resources, and opportunities such as college programs, workforce training, and technical schools. Through individualized support and advocacy, we help students navigate complex systems and take confident steps toward their educational and career goals.

Role Description

This is a part-time, remote volunteer role for a Higher Education Consultant who is passionate about educational equity and supporting students from underserved backgrounds.

Volunteers will work directly with students to:

  • Provide guidance on higher education pathways (college, trade school, certification programs, workforce training)
  • Research and share opportunities tailored to specific student populations (first-gen, student parents, foster youth, people of color etc.)
  • Support students with applications, enrollment steps, and resource navigation
  • Help students understand financial aid, scholarships, and alternative education pathways
  • Offer encouragement, accountability, and mentorship throughout their journey

This role requires just a few hours per week, making it ideal for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact without a full-time commitment.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking compassionate, reliable volunteers who genuinely care about expanding access to education and empowering students who face systemic barriers.

Qualifications:
  • Experience or interest in education, advising, mentoring, or student support
  • Knowledge of higher education systems, workforce training, or college access programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Passion for supporting underserved and nontraditional students
  • Prior experience in mentoring, advising, or community-based work is a plus
Why Volunteer With Us?
  • Make a direct impact in students’ lives
  • Support students who often lack access to guidance and resources
  • Gain experience in education, nonprofit work, and student advocacy
  • Flexible, remote commitment
  • Be part of a mission-driven organization focused on equity and opportunity
