DescriptionPosition
Description:
Teen Coordinator is responsible for teen program/club development, supervision, recruitment/retention and implementation of the Y’s teen programs. Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director or the Family and Sports Director, the role will include facilitating small group activities, modeling & reinforcing our character traits—responsibility, caring, honesty, and respect throughout the program as well as provide a safe environment for all the young people at your YMCA.
- Deliver quality programs to meet the needs of middle and high school students, ensuring that YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures are being enforced and respected.
- Recruit and Retain Teen Program Participants for Signature Programs
- Work with the Associate Executive Director
, to set goals and review the standards in the implementation of activities that foster creativity and awareness including various cultural, educational, recreational, environmental and social issues. - Maintain and monitor enrollment and participation in all Teen Programs
- Ensure that teens participate in all required training, special events, and community collaborations.
- Attend YMCA, community, collaborative and other meetings as requested by the Center Leadership
- Maintain and care for all program areas and supplies.
- Meet all reporting and tracking requirements for collaborative programs and grant funding.
- Communicate program information, problems and concerns as they occur.
- Abide by established YMCA policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines
; ask when in doubt. - Remain current in required and voluntary training to promote Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
- Job performance will be evaluated for progress and growth.
- Adhere to the Association Teen Development Program Standards.
- Perform duties as requested by supervisor.
Education/
Experience:
- 21+ years old
- Minimum of one year of experience in youth development or working with teens.
- Experience in program management including recruitment, resource allocation, program delivery and execution, etc.
- High School Degree required.
Physical Demands:

- Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
- At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50 lbs.
Required Training/
Certifications:
- Child Abuse Prevention (Within 90 Days of Employment)
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (within 90 Days of Employment)
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This position requires a flexible schedule including daytime, evening, and weekend availability depending on the needs of the position.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Complete all required abuse prevention training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations.
- Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and respond to violations using the organization's procedures and policies.
