Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, and Biological Design Center (BDC) invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to join the Bioengineering program. The faculty focus is on building synthetic tissues to understand design principles of biological systems, with research interests in regenerative medicine, organoids, and mechanobiology. The candidate will have a primary appointment split equally between Biomedical Engineering (College of Engineering) and Biology (College of Arts and Sciences).
Affiliated appointments with related centers and departments will be considered. The successful candidate will teach at graduate and undergraduate levels and lead an independent research program with potential for significant funding.
- Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program in biology, biomedical engineering, or related areas.
- Teach effectively at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Collaborate across departments and with centers such as the Biological Design Center and other related institutes.
- Contribute to the university’s mission by engaging in interdisciplinary research and advancing human health through tissue engineering and related fields.
- Ph.D. in a relevant area (e.g., biology, biomedical engineering, or related fields).
- Demonstrated potential for leading an independent research program and securing funding.
- Strong teaching ability at graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Willingness to collaborate across divisions and programs.
