Job Description

The Environmental Science Department at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach two new courses during the Fall 2026 semester.

Courses
  • Indigenous Perspectives on Landscapes (ENV-112) examines how Indigenous knowledge systems shape relationships with land, ecosystems, and environmental stewardship, past and present. With a focus on Southern New England tribes, students explore Indigenous sustainability practices, climate change and environmental justice, collaborative land management, and Indigenous-led restoration and cultural revitalization. This course supports Environmental Science majors and fulfills BHCC's General Education requirements for Community and Cultural Contexts.
  • Environmental Ethics (ENV-223) explores the moral relationship between humans and the natural world, focusing on how ethical frameworks guide decisions on environmental issues. Students examine theories such as biocentrism, ecofeminism, and the land ethic while addressing topics including climate change, conservation, biodiversity, environmental justice, and sustainability. This course supports Environmental Science majors and fulfills BHCC's General Education requirements for Community and Cultural Contexts.
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching at the community college or university level.
  • Ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations.
  • Availability to teach in person during evening hours or weekends.
  • For ENV-112:
    Knowledge of Indigenous cultures of Southern New England tribes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
  • Experience incorporating active learning and inclusive teaching practices.
Additional Information

Salary: $1,397 per credit hour.
