Compensation: $19.50 - $31.00 / hour
Come join our talented team of Early Education Teachers at the YMCA of Greater Boston. We are seeking professional and engaging teachers for our Child Development Programs across the City of Boston and Suburban Boston. The YMCA of Greater Boston provides excellent family-centered infant, toddler, preschool, and after school care. We’re looking for EEC certified teachers to enrich the lives of the children we serve.
Responsibilities- Keep safety of children as a first priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, families, and other staff at all times.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum that fosters children’s development.
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of children in the classroom.
- Conduct child assessments and provide feedback and recommendations to parents and caregivers.
- Lead by personal example, interpret the YMCA character values of children, staff, and families. Be a positive, healthy role model.
- Use positive and constructive methods of behavior management and ensure that all staff do the same.
- Supervise children to ensure safety and appropriate behavior and guide transitions smoothly.
- Collaborate with the co-teacher in the design of the classroom space. Ensure materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day.
- You are detail oriented. You possess and utilize excellent organizational skills. You follow all regulations to ensure children are happy, safe, and healthy.
- You are mission driven. You are committed to carrying out the mission and goals of the YMCA.
- You are a people person. You have strong interpersonal skills to facilitate positive relationships with community agencies, staff, families, and program participants.
- You love working with kids. You enjoy creating engaging educational experiences to help them learn and grow.
- You are at least 21 years old and meet the requirements for the Department of Early Education and Care. You must have a certification from EEC.
- You are able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first six months of employment.
- You will obtain Child Abuse Prevention Training within the first 60 days of employment, Blood Born Pathogen Training, and Sexual Harassment Training within the first 60 days of employment.
