DESCRIPTION
The Department of Medical Education at Tufts University School of Medicine invites applications for a non-tenure, faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Medical Education. We are seeking an individual with expertise in teaching medical physiology in our Medical, Dental, Physician Assistant, and MS in Biomedical Sciences programs. This faculty member will also be expected to engage in educational scholarship, student advising/mentoring, and service on committees.
The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for innovative scholarship, and a strong track record of excellence in teaching, and a commitment to inclusive excellence.
Applications will be reviewed beginning November 15 and will continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The appointment will start no later than July 1, 2026.

The Department of Medical Education (DME) is a basic science department that serves as a hub for teaching excellence and innovation are located on the Health Sciences campus in downtown Boston. DME faculty use and study evidence based pedagogical approaches to support the development of lifelong learners. The department comprises faculty whose primary responsibility is education in the professional programs (Medical, Dental, Physician Assistant, and MS in Biomedical Sciences).
Our faculty hold leadership positions in the teaching of anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, histology, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and physiology. DME also supports programs for undergraduate and pre-college students through the Center for Science Education.
Note:
Ranges represent full-time 9- or 12- month base salaries. Assistant, $108,000-$162,000;
Associate, $120,000-$200,000, Professor, $156,000-$312,500 Qualifications
- Doctoral degree M.D., DO, or Ph.D. in physiology or related discipline
- A strong track record of excellence in teaching
- Experience also teaching other disciplines (pathology, histology, anatomy) desirable
- Evidence of innovative educational scholarship. This may include funding for scholarly activity, publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at conferences within the field of expertise.
