Position OverviewWe are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our faculty in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Sport Leadership and Administration to begin September 1, 2026. Candidates with scholarly expertise in equity in sport and whose teaching, research, and service will advance our college mission and the commitments outlined in our university strategic plan are especially encouraged to apply.
Candidates’ research agendas should focus on one or both of the following areas:
- Opportunities and barriers to equity in sport leadership and administration
- The role of sport in the pursuit of social change
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Sport Leadership and Administration Program
- Conduct research that is relevant to the field of sport leadership and administration
- Contribute service to university, college, departmental, and program committees, professional associations, and to local, national, and/or international communities
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a Sport Management, Educational Leadership, Sport Studies, Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, or related field
- Scholarship that incorporates critical theoretical lenses to advance equity and social justice in sport through scholarship, teaching, and service
- Experience with culturally sustaining and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning
- Involvement in collaborative, interdisciplinary and community‑engaged scholarship
- A record or promise of research productivity
- Interest in collaboration with UMass Boston’s CANALA Institute and socio‑culturally diverse populations
