The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites qualified candidates to apply for an adjunct faculty position in Art starting in Fall 2024. The successful applicant will have a strong record of achievement as an artist. Candidates should have experience teaching a subset of the following courses:
Drawing, Painting, and Art Appreciation. Recent experience as a practicing artist is highly desired.
- Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs.
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide committees.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies.
- Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum and in program review.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and inform students of their academic progress.
- Maintain attendance and grading records and submit them according to published deadlines.
- A Master’s degree in Art or a Master of Fine Arts in an art discipline.
- Experience teaching in a multicultural environment and teaching related coursework at the college level.
- Experience teaching beginning and advanced art courses.
- Experience working with students of various cultural backgrounds, ages and abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Willingness to examine instructional, relational, and classroom practices to effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
- Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
- Teaching experience at the community college and knowledge of its mission and goals.
