About the OpportunityThe Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University has multiple faculty positions at all ranks for the academic year 2026-27. The tenure home for this position will reside in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, with a potential joint appointment in another Northeastern College, to be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.
Hiring cycle focus:
Artificial Intelligence (AI). Candidates will be considered across all sub-areas of AI, with an emphasis on the following topics:
- Resilient and Trustworthy AI – AI solutions for scalable, secure systems, robust networking, IoT infrastructure, security and privacy.
- Foundations of AI – machine learning, LLMs and SLMs, natural language processing, computer vision, theory, and transparent and explainable AI models.
- Human Centered AI – sensing and extended reality, HCI, human-in-the-loop AI, AI for robotics and other embodied applications, information ethics, visual analytics, responsible AI, and digital civics.
- Use-Inspired AI – research that propels future AI systems through deep domain investigations in Engineering, Health Sciences and Science (e.g., AI for climate and sustainability, drug discovery, healthcare, materials and manufacturing, network engineering, transportation). Joint appointments possible with Engineering, Health Sciences, or Science.
We are especially seeking outstanding senior and mid-career faculty candidates, but exceptional early-career researchers will also be considered.
Application review will begin November 15, 2025, and continue through the academic year until the search is completed.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and related areas.
- Advise, mentor, and oversee students and postdoctoral researchers.
- Conduct an independent research program that attracts external funding.
- Preform service to the college, university, and the profession.
- Must hold a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution by employment start date.
- Expected to develop an independently funded research program of international caliber.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting experiential learning.
- Senior candidates: established history of grant support or industry research, potential for strong leadership in their field.
- Associate Professor: at least five years of related experience required.
- Full Professor: at least eight years of related experience required. Equal Opportunity

Assistant Professor: $130,000 - $155,000 | Associate Professor: $154,000 - $187,000 | Professor: $167,000 - $246,000Oakland:
