Description

Kingsley is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking administrator to contribute to our Montessori Early Childhood Education Program. The ideal candidate will be a positive, solutions-oriented leader who thrives in a team-oriented environment, is deeply committed to Montessori principles, and is passionate about cultivating a supportive, respectful, and joyful learning community. This 12-month position will work closely with the Director to nurture an empathetic atmosphere that fosters the growth and development of both students and staff.

The Assistant Director of Early Childhood Education will report directly to the Director of Early Childhood Education and will assist with the day-to-day management and supervision of early childhood operations, teachers, and students.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Director to provide guidance, vision, and direction for the school, ensuring an enriching, inclusive environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Assist the Director of Early Childhood Education in fostering a culture of kindness, mutual respect, and professional growth among staff, preserving, developing, and fulfilling the school’s Montessori philosophy and objectives.
  • Develop strong, positive relationships with families, ensuring open, empathetic, and consistent communication regarding student progress, school events, and addressing concerns as they arise.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of a developmentally appropriate Montessori curriculum that supports children in meeting educational benchmarks and milestones, ensuring individualized learning experiences that foster cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
  • Oversee and provide support for students, teachers, and families in response to challenging student behaviors, offering guidance, resources, and interventions as necessary.
  • Assist the Director of Early Childhood Education in reading, editing, and providing feedback on winter and spring Progress Report narratives, ensuring they accurately reflect the development of each child.
  • Conduct student and faculty classroom observations to assess both individual and group needs, ensuring alignment with Montessori practices and addressing any areas for growth or improvement.
  • Ensure that each child’s individual needs are met through careful observation, guidance, and support, fostering the Montessori principles of independence, respect, and a love of learning.
  • Supervise and coordinate the planning and execution of all field trips, moving-up events, and other school-wide activities, ensuring they align with the Montessori philosophy and create enriching experiences for the children.
  • Assist the Director of Early Childhood Education in creating meeting agendas and facilitating faculty and team meetings, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Act as the Director of Early Childhood Education in the Director’s absence, providing leadership and ensuring the smooth operation of the school.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree required and MA degree in education preferred.
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience with some administrative responsibilities preferred.
