Position Title: Director of Student Engagement
SALARY RANGE: $86,000- $95,000 annually
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Weekly Hours: 37.50
Bargaining Unit: This Position is a grant-funded position and governed by the following APA Policies Handbook.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Please note that this position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability and renewal of grant funding.
General Statement of Duties:
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students, the Director is expected to be an active leader within the Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management and on college-wide initiatives. The Director provides leadership in developing and supporting a comprehensive campus life program that improves the transition of students to and through the college with an emphasis on student retention and success.
Further, this role serves as a thought leader on centering student belonging at the College. The Director has primary responsibility for New Student Orientation programming and advises the Student Government Association including the (SGA) Executive Board and its 45+ student organizations. This position coordinates and works closely with other Directors in the division and colleagues across campus to meet the College's strategic goal of student success through a lens of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Supervision Exercised: Program Coordinators, Graduate Assistant(s) and Student Staff
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement co-curricular programs in support of student success and student belonging that are grounded in research and best practice.
- Lead campus initiatives regarding student engagement include learning outcomes and assessment efforts for all programmatic initiatives.
- Overall responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive Orientations; including New Student, Family and Transfer Orientations.
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator to train and supervise Lead Primers (Head Orientation Leaders), Primers (Orientation Leaders) and other Orientation student workers.
- Partners with various offices including Housing and Residence Life, the Academic Resource Center (ARC), Career Development, and Community Health and Well-Being to provide a seamless experience for students.
- Research, implement and manage online systems to enhance the transition process from deposit through the first year; including an online Orientation platform, the website and social media.
- Utilize online software to support student engagement and provide training as necessary to relevant campus constituencies.
- Fiscal responsibility for the budgets that fall within the department.
- Ensure appropriate advising to the Student Government Association, as well as the 45+ student organizations which fall under its purview. Advisement of SGA and student organizations includes overseeing the management of the SGA budget and approval of expenditures as well as providing direction to student group representatives during the planning process for their on and off-campus events and trips.
- Advise managers of the Restore - a student run store based on sustainability and equity.
- Partner with Administration & Finance to engage students with campus vendors to ensure student voice is included in their services.
- Serve as a member of various Colleges of the Fenway (COF) & Pro Arts committees and assist in planning activities. Serve as a resource on-campus for students interested in getting involved in co-curricular programs with the COF & Pro Arts.
- Ensure college policies regarding student activities are current, follow best practice, and meet risk obligations.
- Actively engage in recruitment and retention efforts at all class year levels.
- Serve as the staff advisor for an event planning course (Event & Exhibition Planning and Production) through the SIM (Studio for Interrelated Media) department, collaborating with SIM faculty.
- Serve on college-wide committees including Complex Event Advising and Post-Deposit committees.
- Lead with a focus on justice, equity, and inclusion in the development of policies, practices, processes, and programs
Extended hours during peak periods (including nights and weekends).
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 5 years post-baccalaureate experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a higher education setting
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience with professional staff
- Demonstrated experience in student leadership development and/or training
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience in researching, developing, implementing, and assessing programs
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Competency in MS office & Google suite
