Overview
Neighbor Health, formerly East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, is a large community health center serving the greater Boston area. This description reflects the Let’s Get Movin’ (LGM) Pediatric Healthy Living Coach role within Neighbor Health’s pediatric programs.
Responsibilities- Deliver fitness and sport programming to youth 8–14 years old; model healthy living behaviors in program settings and the community.
- Create a supportive environment that promotes engagement and empowers youth to make healthy lifestyle choices.
- Facilitate enrollment and outreach through appointment scheduling and application completion; document outreach and enrollment efforts in the Epic Medical Record and appropriate spreadsheets.
- Ensure youth safety during program hours; follow the Injured/Ill Child Protocol and assess need for emergency or urgent care.
- Maintain attendance records and communicate with parents about unexcused absences to support engagement.
- Teach nutrition education and healthy living curriculum in after school programs and neighborhood schools; support garden programming as needed.
- Provide support and direction to Let’s Get Movin’ volunteers, youth staff, and junior coaches in training.
- Promote partnerships with community programs to expand programming and participate in field trips and community outings with the Sports and Fitness Coordinator’s oversight.
- Plan and participate in 5K family fitness programming, including Líder Program, training sessions, and community events.
- Administer fitness testing and anthropometric data; perform data entry to support program evaluation.
- Support food access programs (Farmers Market/CSA) as needed.
- Serve as case manager for strong Spanish-speaking candidates to help identify community programs and assist parent enrollment when applicable.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance; demonstrate teamwork, self-direction, and problem-solving; provide excellent customer service per ACE model.
- Adhere to organizational policies and participate in required departmental activities and meetings.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education:
High school degree or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred. - Experience:
Youth engagement experience preferred.
Salary:
Starting at $20/hr up to $27/hr based on experience.
