Job Description

D. Holland High School of Technology is seeking a Director of Operations and Student Support to manage non‑academic operations and guide the Wellness and Student Support team, focusing on student safety, support, and restorative justice practices. The role ensures smooth operation of the school, coordinates support services for all students, and fosters a positive, inclusive, restorative justice‑based school culture and climate.

The Director collaborates with community‑based organizations providing youth development opportunities.

Responsibilities – Operations
  • Member of the Administrative Leadership Team
  • Supports creation and maintenance of a safe, welcoming school environment
  • Leads the school’s Operational Plans and Safety Procedures
  • Leads the Culture and Climate team, coordinating and planning school‑wide events for students, families, and community stakeholders
  • Manages daily opening of school
  • Designates administrative duties of day‑to‑day operations (coverage, transportation, supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch, and facilities)
  • Works with facilities staff to address concerns, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment
  • Supports Head of School with budgeting and purchasing
  • Facilitates Family Council with Head of School and Family Liaison
  • Facilitates School Site Council with Head of School
  • Supervises non‑instructional staff: community field coordinators, security paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria staff
  • Assists Head of School with reports, compliance, scheduling, and communication
  • Manages room and office assignments
  • Organizes key assignments and distribution/collection
  • Manages facilities use requests and repairs via district online platforms
  • Supports Investigatory Meetings (IM) with Head of School
Responsibilities – Student Support
  • Collaborates with Social Workers, Family Liaisons, Security Paraprofessionals, and Community Field Coordinators to engage families and support students
  • Leads restorative justice practices for student behavior issues
  • Records all behavior incidents and code of conduct hearings in ASPEN
  • Manages student expectations, ensuring BPS Code of Conduct is implemented with fidelity and protects due process rights
  • Tracks behavior referrals from teachers and prepares/analyzes data
  • Collaborates with Student Support Team to create intervention strategies and follow‑up plans, maintaining student behavior records
  • Serves as Hearing Officer for Code of Conduct infractions and liaison to BPS on student conduct matters with relevant agencies
  • Prepares bullying reports, equity reports, long‑term suspension and expulsion hearing forms, and CIC packets for Head of School approval
  • Member of Administrative and Leadership Teams, providing a student safety and support perspective
  • Works with School Leaders and Wellness Team to establish consistent protocols handling disruptions to learning
  • Creates and maintains intervention plans supporting student re‑engagement and positive community relationships
  • Communicates with parents/caregivers/families to support positive student behaviors
  • Supports students proactively alongside SST Leader/School Social Worker; performs duties requested by Head of School
Qualifications – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3‑5+ years general management experience in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders (school staff, partners, families, youth, community)
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Other Information

Terms:

Managerial Tier C; subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. 223‑day work year; no vacation or compensatory time. No need to report for work during school cancellations due to snow or inclement weather.
