Extended LearningThe Make Move Jam Extended Learning Program includes the National Arts Education Association’s High Level standards and Creative Youth Development guidelines. Past programs have covered visual arts, dance, chorus, media arts, creative writing, place-based learning, coding, and STEAM.
Position SummaryThe Program Specialist collaborates closely with the Coordinator of Extended Learning to facilitate daily program operations and ensure a dynamic, engaging after‑school environment for elementary and middle school students. This role involves curriculum development and site‑based program support.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Program Coordinator to develop and implement curriculum incorporating arts, STEAM, and project‑based learning principles.
- Perform operational duties that support program vision, including data entry and record keeping.
- Provide individualized guidance to students, fostering academic, artistic, and social‑emotional growth.
- Maintain strong communication with school staff and families to support student engagement and success.
- Facilitate after‑school programming.
- Provide support in classrooms during the school day, as assigned.
- Experience working with school‑aged children in an educational or arts‑based setting.
- Passion for project‑based learning, arts education, and youth development.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students across various age groups.
- Tech savvy with excellent communication and collaboration skills, flexible and adaptive approach, including familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets.
- Understanding of child development and best practices in classroom facilitation and management.
- Ability to encourage student growth through active listening, open‑ended questioning, and constructive feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree or teaching certification is a plus.
