This position is an anticipated vacancy and will become officially vacant by the end of this school year. Until the position is vacated, the incumbent may rescind retirement, leave, or resignation, and new hires may start as a Long‑Term Substitute if the vacancy does not materialize by the start of the school year.
This position is located in a Spanish/English dual language school and requires bilingual, bi‑literate candidates. An ESL license at the appropriate level is highly preferred.
Position OverviewBoston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Dual Language Spanish/Chemistry Teacher who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders.

Responsibilities- Teach Chemistry in a Dual Language setting.

- Participates in and contributes to a collaborative adult learning community.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
- Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Chemistry at the appropriate grade level.
- Hold a Bilingual Education Endorsement; a valid Transitional Bilingual Education or Transitional Bilingual Learning endorsement is considered equivalent.
- Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
- Demonstrate ability to meet Boston Public Schools’ Standards of Effective Teaching.
- Current authorization to work in the United States; must have such authorization by first day of employment.
- Experience teaching in urban schools.
- Dual certification in ESL.
- Degree in Education.
- Fluency in another BPS official language (Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali).
- Preferred subject‑area certification plus Moderate Disabilities or ESL certification at appropriate grade level(s).
