Overview
Soccer Unity Project reimagines the power of soccer to build community and connect people from diverse backgrounds. We provide over 1,400 Boston youth the opportunity to play soccer at varied levels, and work to cultivate a love of the game regardless of socio-economic status or prior experience. Our mandate is to drive inclusion and strengthen community through the power of soccer.
Our model is unique – our free sports programs intersect populations across socioeconomic divides to bring together youth from varying socio-economic backgrounds, cultures, races, and ethnicities. We strive to knock down barriers to every level of play while focusing on the social‑emotional and life skill‑building benefits of sport.
The VISTA will be part of the 26‑27 Coach Across America VISTA nationwide cohort. Duties include developing and implementing an engagement plan to recruit and engage alumni, coaches, parents, and professionals to participate as Ambassadors; creating and implementing outreach strategies to increase participation of youth with disabilities in adaptive sports and recreation programs; creating and implementing a volunteer recruitment plan; and increasing career readiness and workforce skills for teens by organizing schedules, recruiting teen participants, and tracking participation and program outcomes.
In this role, the VISTA will have the opportunity to learn inner workings of non‑profits and sport for youth development organizations, develop professional skills in communications and marketing, develop project management skills, interact with a diverse group of passionate individuals, and learn ways to increase cross‑cultural appreciation.
Living Allowance, Training, Childcare assistance if eligible, Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend, Health Coverage*, Relocation Allowance.
