Job Summary
The Admission Counselor is responsible for recruiting and counseling undergraduate students. The role involves evaluating applications, traveling to events, and supporting students from prospect through enrollment.
Responsibilities- Counsel a caseload of approximately 550‑650 students, including first‑year, international, transfer, and adult students.
- Travel extensively to college fairs, community colleges, and high school visits to meet prospective students, families, and counselors.
- Plan and attend presentations and events within assigned territories, maintaining positive relationships with college counselors, consultants, and community organizations.
- Cover travel for other territories when needed.
- Read and evaluate applications based on a rubric, recommend admission decisions, and present candidates to the admissions committee.
- Assist other counselors with application review when required.
- Respond proactively to communications from students, families, and counselors to guide them through the admission process.
- Serve as Counselor on Duty (CoD) on campus on a rotation of up to 6 weekdays per month and up to 6 Saturdays and/or holidays per year, handling walk‑in visitors and staffing the front desk.
- Present at and staff a variety of admission events, including large on‑campus events and virtual events.
- Manage several projects within the admissions office, such as liaising with other offices, managing student workers, and serving on committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to rent a car.
- Passport or REAL before the May 2025 deadline.
- Experience in an admissions setting (undergraduate or graduate student worker, or professional). Other relevant experience includes higher‑education administration, high‑school counseling, sales, or customer‑service‑oriented professions.
- Fluency in one of the common languages other than English (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Haitian Creole).
- Experience with Slate or another CRM system.
- Competencies:

12 months, 40 hours per week, with significant overtime during reading and travel seasons. Hybrid schedule: on campus 3 days per week, with travel for up to 8 weeks in the fall and 4 weeks in the spring.
CompensationSalary range: $39,100.00 – $63,400.00. Benefits include health coverage, retirement savings, and work‑life balance initiatives.
