Position Overview
Harvard's Department of Landscape Architecture is actively seeking a full professor to provide graduate-level instruction and conduct advanced research with an emphasis on design.
ResponsibilitiesAs a full professor, the candidate will teach graduate-level design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops; advise thesis and doctoral students; contribute to collective projects of the school, including program and departmental leadership; conduct advanced research in public realm landscapes or a related discipline; engage in academic service and administrative duties; and fulfill the responsibilities of a tenured, full-time faculty member residing in Greater Boston.
CommitmentThe department values candidates who advance environmental and social justice in the contemporary city, demonstrate expertise in landscape architecture and its intersection with urban design, and expand disciplinary boundaries through interdisciplinary work at multiple scales.
Basic Qualifications- Hold a master-level degree in landscape architecture or a closely related field; a doctoral degree is considered an enhancement.
- Established a distinguished international reputation for work in landscape architecture or the profession.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level in design studios, lectures, seminars, and/or workshops.
- Proven record of scholarship and/or design research that contributes to the field.
- Commitment to environmental justice, social justice, and engagement with underserved communities.
- Experience advising thesis students and doctoral students.
- Strong collaboration skills with interdisciplinary faculty in architecture, urban planning, design engineering, etc.
- Ability to meet tenure-track expectations and reside in Greater Boston.
The position is intended for individuals pursuing a full-time academic career who are highly effective teachers and whose creative work in scholarship, design research, or professional practice is recognized by peers as a preeminent intellectual contribution to their field.
