Girls’ LEAP works to disrupt the violence that surrounds girls and gender expansive youth by amplifying their voices, emboldening their courage, and imparting critical life and self-defense skills so they can take on challenges with confidence.

Our programs combine physical skills with social-emotional development, in a unique and synergistic combination. Young people recognize and develop their physical strength by practicing physical self-defense. Experiencing the power in their bodies gives them the confidence to use their voices, set boundaries, create healthy relationships, and develop into leaders.

We enroll groups of 8‑20 girls and gender expansive youth (ages 8‑18, in age‑appropriate groups) at no cost to them in their neighbourhood schools and community centres. We aim for a 4:1 ratio, students to staff in each program.
