Position: SY 26-27 Assistant Dean

Assistant Dean (Upper School)

The Conservatory Lab Charter School seeks a bilingual Assistant Dean who collaborates with staff, students, and families to build a positive school culture rooted in the values of Cooperation, Empathy, Perseverance, Reflection, and Responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Support arrival and dismissal processes each day.
  • Facilitate recess protocols and logistics.
  • Provide daily coverage, including student lunch coverage.
  • Communicate norms and expectations for lunch.
  • De-escalate situations involving children as needed.
  • Contribute to staff evaluation to promote a high‑achievement environment.
  • Build and nurture a positive school culture by coordinating events, implementing recognition systems, and supporting school‑wide culture.
  • Facilitate and translate family meetings.
  • Articulate the school’s culture, vision, and mission to families, teachers, and students.
  • Assist with family communication.
  • Support development and logistics of school‑wide events, Family Nights, and New Student Orientations.
  • Assist with communications and external relations through parent letters, weekly staff notes, surveys, and visitors.
  • Monitor student attendance and tardiness, communicate with families to improve attendance.
  • Develop, communicate, and enforce guidelines for attendance, discipline, and conduct; ensure support plans for students and parents.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment by supervising emergency drills, developing emergency response procedures, arranging substitute coverage, and overseeing lunch/recess and arrival/dismissal procedures.
  • Prepare paperwork and reports such as newsletters, handbooks, board reports; assist with scheduling.
  • Report directly to the Director of School Culture and Counseling.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Executive Director, or designee.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years school‑based experience, early childhood experience preferred.
  • 2 years management experience.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

This is an 11‑month position (August – June).
Position Type: Full‑time.
Salary: $50,000 to $70,000 per year.
