Assistant Dean of the Upper School – Bilingual
Responsible for fostering a positive school culture, supporting academic, musical, and social‑emotional learning, and facilitating communication among staff, students, and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Support daily arrival and dismissal processes.
- Facilitate recess protocols and logistics.
- Provide daily coverage, including student lunch coverage and communication of norms and expectations.
- De‑escalate student behavior as needed.
- Assist in evaluating staff to support a high‑achievement environment for all students.
- Build and nurture a positive school culture, coordinating school‑wide or grade‑level events, implementing staff and student recognition systems, and supporting a school‑wide positive culture.
- Facilitate and translate family meetings.
- Articulate school culture, vision, and mission to families, teachers, and students.
- Assist with family communication.
- Support the development and logistics of school‑wide events, family nights, and new‑student orientations.
- Support communications and external relations through parent letters, weekly staff notes, surveys, and visitor outreach.
- Monitor student attendance and tardiness; communicate with families to create improvement plans.
- Help develop, communicate, and enforce attendance, discipline, and conduct guidelines, and ensure students and parents receive necessary support.
- Work with leadership to maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment, supervise emergency drills, develop emergency response procedures, arrange substitute coverage, and oversee lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal procedures.
- Prepare paperwork and reports (newsletters, handbooks, board reports, etc.) and assist with scheduling.
- Report directly to the Director of School Culture and Counseling.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and Executive Director or designee.
- 23 years of school‑based experience, early childhood experience preferred.
- 2 years of management experience.
- Fluent in Spanish (preferred).
This is an 11‑month position (August to June).
