Job Description
Summary:
As a paraprofessional you provide academic support to students under the supervision of a licensed teacher. You collaborate with colleagues, including classroom teachers, specialists, and administrators, to meet the needs of your students.
- Assist with and follow a variety of classroom tasks
- Carry out classroom schedule and routines
- Prepare materials and lessons with the classroom teacher
- Make copies of homework, parent notices, resources
- Assist in helping students complete assignments
- Attend to behavioral and medical needs
- Help maintain a clean and organized classroom
- Implement school and district policies and procedures
- Arrive on time prepared to work
- Communicate with classroom teacher regarding students’ social, emotional, physical and academic needs
- Maintain confidentiality
- Develop and maintain helpful, supportive, respectful, and nurturing relationships with all children and families in the classroom
- Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, secure, exciting, and developmentally appropriate classroom
- Incorporate and pursue special interests and talents within the classroom
- Observe classroom procedures as often as possible
- When the classroom teacher is absent, take full responsibility or assist the substitute teacher in classroom routines and pre‑planned lessons
- Morning Duty: active supervision of hallways and classroom
- Afternoon Duty: active supervision of dismissal process
- Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipend
- Required:
48 college credit hours or Associate degree or passing score on Para Pro test (minimum requirement for meeting highly qualified status) - Strong background in communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Bachelor degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
