Welcome to Conservatory Lab Charter School – a community that stands out in Massachusetts. Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual counseling and group services to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health and well‑being.
- Implement developmentally appropriate, prevention‑oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals, such as healthy peer relationships, bullying prevention, executive functioning skills, and conflict resolution.
- Provide therapeutic and behavior‑management/self‑regulation supports to students directly in the classroom.
- Provide crisis support in collaboration with administrators and school staff.
- Offer ongoing consultation to students, teachers, parents, and administration regarding learning differences, social‑emotional development, emotional literacy, behavioral functioning, and conflict resolution.
- Support the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) and other social‑emotional and behavioral assessments and observations with collaboration from the team.
- Assist with Student Support Team (SST) and IEP processes to help teachers and staff develop and implement differentiated instruction and classroom management practices that meet individual student needs.
- Write SMART goals for service that address students’ needs and monitor progress.
- Implement and maintain an inclusive model of service delivery through cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships with school administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
- Coordinate a wrap‑around system of care, managing student referrals to outside agencies, supporting parents to obtain services and evaluations, collaborating with specialists, and advocating for children and families.
- Participate in, coordinate, and conduct activities that contribute to an effective universal system of social‑emotional and behavioral supports for the school community (e.g., professional development, workshops, parent education).
- Collaborate with school leaders on issues related to school climate and program and staff development to meet the needs of all members of the school community.
- Provide feedback and recommend appropriate action and solutions to individual students’ academic and educational needs and abilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Create, monitor, and update student counseling and special education records as needed.
- Assist with supervision of recess, lunch, or classrooms as needed.
- Attend faculty meetings, curriculum meetings, open houses, or other school events in the evening or on weekends such as concerts and meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of trauma‑informed approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability and interest in establishing an open rapport with faculty, students, and families.
- Experience working with student support and/or special education teams.
- Licensure track, or current license for LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW.
- Licensure eligibility for School Adjustment Counselor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an elementary school counselor.
- Experience counseling urban youth.
