Job Description
The University of Massachusetts Boston Department of Nursing within the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences (MCNHS) welcomes qualified applicants to join our diverse community as part‑time Nursing Clinical Instructors (an adjunct, non‑tenure track faculty position)
Qualifications- Current, unrestricted registered nursing (RN) licensure in the state of Massachusetts or eligibility to obtain one.
- A minimum of five years of clinical experience in nursing.
- Master’s degree in nursing, a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP), a PhD in Nursing, enrollment in a graduate nursing program, or a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential.
- Previous teaching or precepting experience working with diverse student populations in various healthcare settings (preferred).
- Certification in a nursing specialty relevant to the teaching area (preferred).
- Deliver direct clinical instruction and supervision of patient care with prelicensure undergraduate nursing students in one or more specialty areas.
- Identify, assign, and supervise patient care experiences to maximize student learning opportunities.
- Develop and implement evidence‑based teaching strategies to enhance clinical learning experiences and promote clinical judgement.
- Evaluate student performance, review clinical assignments, provide timely, constructive feedback, and document progress.
- Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to ensure alignment with course objectives, program outcomes and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the clinical coordinator and clinical partners to address student concerns, implement remediation or clinical alerts when needed.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students, demonstrating professional excellence and ethical practice.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical best practices, trends in nursing education, and healthcare innovations.
- Additional responsibilities include participating in faculty meetings, required orientations, and agency credentialing, with other duties assigned to support student success.
- Schedule:
Semester-based scheduling, aligned with clinical and programmatic needs. - Location:
Clinical and community health sites in eastern Massachusetts, virtual or on‑campus orientation and occasional on‑campus meetings and teaching requirements. - Expected compensation ranges from $7,500 to $15,000 per semester based on the number of FTEs assigned. The specific pay will be determined by the University.
