Mission:
Conservatory Lab Charter School empowers a diverse range of children as scholars, artists, and leaders through a unique and rigorous academic and music education. We enrich the larger community through performance, service, and collaboration. As a laboratory school, we develop and disseminate innovative educational approaches that will positively impact children in other schools and programs.
We seek passionate individuals who support students to meet their full potential. Candidates will collaborate with content teachers to plan and implement learning experiences that advance students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. The Instructional Support Assistant works with lead teachers to provide instructional and social‑emotional support within the classroom. Professional development is integrated into the schedule every Wednesday to advance instructional practices and monitor student progress.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Partner with lead teacher to support an optimal learning environment for students.
- Serve as co‑teacher/teaching assistant within the classroom.
- Implement the lead teacher’s lesson plans.
- Reinforce lessons by reviewing materials one‑on‑one or in small groups.
- Enforce school and class rules and routines to maintain scholarly behavior.
- Assist with record keeping.
- Lead small‑group and individual instruction using research‑based interventions focused on individual student difficulties.
- Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to ensure fidelity of implementation.
- Support individual students in maintaining on‑task behaviors.
- Collaborate with grade‑level special educators to implement supports and accommodations for individual students.
- Assist lead teacher with two‑way communication with families, including attending team/parent meetings as required.
- Provide input to individual student success plans.
- Assist with universal screening of students.
- Use tracking systems to maintain lists of students participating in interventions.
- Supervise student groups as assigned by the schedule.
- Support students in successfully transitioning while maintaining academic focus.
- Assist with classroom environment maintenance, including preparation for lessons and breakdown of activities.
- Assist with administrative duties such as arrival/dismissal, lunch, and recess.
- Use feedback to reflect on skills and improve performance to support student learning.
- Substitute for classroom teacher during meetings and professional development as needed.
- Supervise assigned lunch and recess duties.
- Perform related duties as requested to support a safe learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years of college coursework.
- Experience working with children.
- Ability to work closely and collaborate on a professional team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Flexible and able to work in a fast‑paced, highly demanding environment.
- Bachelor’s degree. Preferred fields:
Early Childhood, Elementary, ESL, or Special Education. - Associate degree preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Cape Verdean Creole.
