Job Description

High School ESL Teacher (2026‑2027). The position is based at our high school on 1001 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton. Qualified applicants must have a valid ESL license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education by the date of hire and current U.S. work authorization.

Match Charter Public School is a free, high‑performing charter public school in Boston, serving up to 1,250 students. Overview of Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction to students who require an English language development course of study as a Language Acquisition Teacher (LAT).
  • Co‑teach, provide instructional and inclusion support in general education classes with multilingual learners.
  • Deliver targeted language interventions in small group settings.
  • Use ELD levels and formative assessments to drive instruction and achieve language acquisition goals.
  • Manage institutional paperwork, teacher professional development, parent and student communication, student testing/screening, and compliance with Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress via phone, text, email, and in‑person meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff to share language development best practices daily.
  • Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations and provide ongoing student support.
  • Participate actively in coaching and professional development programming.
  • Assist with school programming during non‑instructional time (e.g., arrival, lunch, dismissal).
  • Serve as a positive and collaborative member of the Match Charter Public School community.
Qualifications
  • At least two years of full‑time experience as an ESL, classroom, or special education teacher, preferably in an urban setting.
  • Valid and appropriate ESL license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (or ability to obtain by hire date).
  • Belief that all students can and will succeed.
  • Desire to continuously improve practice through feedback and implementation.
  • Proven record of student success and achievement.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $61,812 – $98,899 per year, based on prior teaching experience.

Benefits include 90% coverage of health insurance costs and student loan repayment assistance. Working hours are Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:30 pm.
