ResponsibilitiesThe School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is home to the Center on Crime, Race and Justice. Together, the School and Center prepare students for professional and research careers in criminal justice, criminology, and related fields by applying multidisciplinary and comparative social science to understand, predict, and explain crime and contribute to the development of public policy within urban communities. Using an active learning approach, the School seeks to develop its students intellectually and ethically, while providing them with a keen appreciation of the complexities of crime and public and private efforts to make communities safer and ensure justice.
Preferred availability is for classes to take place between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. Please indicate availability in the cover letter. We are especially interested in candidates with a commitment to high‑quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. All qualified applications will be kept on file for additional openings. Positions are available throughout the year contingent upon enrollment and departmental need.
QualificationsMaster's Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related social science discipline is required. A JD is required for all law courses. Preference will be given to individuals with teaching ability in the areas of Criminal Law, Security, Policing, Violence, Victimology, and Research Methods, and Forensic Science.
