Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Literacy Specialist, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

$120,000 annual salary, paid weekly, including health, dental, and vision coverage from day one. Full‑time on‑site placement at a single Alpha campus in cities such as Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Piedmont, San‑Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), as well as Greenwich, CT;
Boca Raton, FL;
Chicago, IL;
Boston, MA;
Charlotte, NC; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available). 40‑hour workweek entirely in‑classroom with students in grades K‑2.

Your structured‑literacy training — Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master’s in reading instruction — has opened the door to every K‑2 reading position you’ve pursued. In most, it also marked the limit: you delivered someone else’s curriculum and documented results. Here that credential is where you begin. If this difference resonates with you, continue reading.

Alpha has dismantled conventional teaching models. Students work through academic content independently using AI‑adaptive applications. There are no lectures, textbooks, or pacing calendars. Your position represents the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced. You build 20‑minute small‑group workshops using real‑time data from the apps; sessions are intentionally brief, because focused precision outperforms duration. You also lead motivation sessions designed to push 100 % of students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha’s motivational framework (campus currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate game mechanics).

You catch a miscue during instruction, identify the underlying phonemic deficit, and redesign the next day’s workshop before you leave. This is expected practice.

Families enrolled at these locations have selected Alpha for measurable results, not simply attendance. Parents receive weekly data on their child’s reading progress and they engage actively. You will field specific questions about individual student advancement, and vague reassurances will not suffice. You must reference the running record, identify the phonemic gap, and describe your instructional response. This level of accountability should energize you, not exhaust you.

Your initial months focus on establishing credibility. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective; student satisfaction and “love your Guide” survey results (90 %+ target) provide direct feedback. As you demonstrate success, your influence grows beyond your classroom: strategies that succeed with your students inform instruction at other Alpha campuses, and your diagnostic precision influences reading pedagogy as Alpha scales.

Your contributions extend well beyond your immediate environment.

Before we extend an offer, you will submit a short video in which you tell an engaging story for young children, and you will spend a full day on campus working directly with K‑2 students. Low energy with children disqualifies candidates, regardless of credential strength. Apply today.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Constructing small‑group K‑2 reading workshops using live data from adaptive apps, rooted in structured‑literacy approaches (Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent)
  • Facilitating daily motivation sessions that drive 100 % of your students toward their weekly app objectives using Alpha’s motivational framework (campus currency, leaderboards, age‑appropriate gamification)
  • Analyzing AI‑generated performance metrics (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction during the day, not only during planning time
  • Conducting running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to generate progress visible in the weekly campus data meetings
  • Serving as the energetic, approachable adult your K‑2 students are excited to see each day
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district‑mandated pacing guide; you create lessons based on student data
  • Delivering whole‑class lectures; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete core academic subjects through adaptive apps
  • Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or…
