Overview
Boston Public Schools seeks a Vocational Tech [Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing] Teacher who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. Reports to:
Principal/Head of School
- Provide a vocational technical course of study aligned to state curriculum frameworks and meeting the learning needs of students while maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Align with vocational technical skills and content in the school's curriculum map to achieve equitable student outcomes.
- Earn and/or maintain all required licensure.

- Required
- Education:
High school diploma or the equivalent - Employment experience: 5 years of full-time experience directly related to the field
- Licensure/Certification: ASE certification in at least three areas of automotive technology
- Massachusetts Vocational Tech Teaching License in the appropriate subject (9-14) or ability to earn by passing the subject exams and a MTEL literacy option
- Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement or ability to obtain
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by Boston Public Schools
- Current authorization to work in the United States by start date
- Preferred
- Experience teaching in urban schools and/or an industry setting
- OSHA-10 certification or willingness to earn it
- Industry-recognized credentials aligned with curriculum and ability to train students to earn those credentials
- Valuing linguistic diversity; bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged, with preferred languages including Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali
- Core content certification in related subject area and, if applicable, certifications in Moderate Disabilities or English as a Second Language
BTU, Group I. Salaries are listed by unions and grade/step. Start and end times of schools vary; some schools have extended days under the Schedule A ELT agreement.
