The 5th Grade Teacher will deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in reading, language arts, mathematics, and science using district curriculum and a variety of instructional materials. Responsible for classroom planning, assessment, and collaboration with colleagues and the school community to support student growth and learning outcomes.

• Teach reading, language arts, mathematics, and science to assigned classroom.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Implement educational philosophy and instructional goals in daily lessons.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law, school policy, and regulations.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours when required.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, evaluating performance.
• Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
• Work under general supervision of the Upper School Director or designated administrator.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on required staff committees.
• Morning duty: supervise hallways and classrooms.
• Afternoon duty: supervise dismissal process.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.
• Experience working in an urban setting (preferred).
• Experience working with diverse student populations (preferred).
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning.

• DESE License:
  Elementary 1-6 and SEI Endorsement.
• Or passing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) with required subject test scores.
