Spanish Teacher, Elementary School
The Advent School seeks a Spanish Teacher who brings joy, curiosity, and strong language pedagogy to our vibrant learning community. Grounded in principles of social justice and inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, Advent's Spanish program emphasizes communication, cultural understanding, and meaningful language experiences that help students develop confidence as multilingual learners.
This is a full time position. The Advent School offers a competitive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, a retirement plan, professional development opportunities, and paid time off. Salary range is $60, based on experience and education.
Responsibilities & Duties- Teach Spanish to students in Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade across both the Brimmer and West Cedar Street campuses.
- Foster students' language development through engaging, immersive, and developmentally appropriate instruction that emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Cultivate curiosity about the diverse cultures, histories, and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world while promoting empathy, global citizenship, and intercultural understanding.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and specialist colleagues to support an integrated, thematic curriculum rooted in social justice.
- Design curriculum that connects language learning with authentic experiences, inquiry, and grade-level themes.
- Communicate regularly with families through weekly updates and twice-yearly progress reports, and partner with them to support each child's growth.

Required Skills & CharacteristicsThe Advent School seeks educators who are deeply committed to equity and social justice in education. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong content knowledge and pedagogical skill in elementary world language instruction.
- A demonstrated understanding of language acquisition and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Familiarity with, or interest in, the Reggio Emilia approach.
- Experience with thematic or project-based learning and differentiated instruction.

- Minimum of 2 years of teaching or related experience (independent or public school settings).
- Fluency in Spanish required.
