Overview
The Assistant Director, Financial Aid, School of Law is part of the BU Law Financial Aid Office, which supports a population of 1200 law students. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director, awards financial aid, counsels prospective and current students as well as alumni, and has principal responsibility for the students in the LLM and other graduate programs in the School of Law.
The Assistant Director oversees Federal Work-Study, the BU Law Loan Repayment Assistance Program, study abroad, visiting students, and other special enrollment programs. The Assistant Director plans the schedule of financial literacy events and presents workshops on loan repayment and debt management topics for prospective and current students. Additionally, the Assistant Director acts as the primary back-up and supports the Senior Director.
The Assistant Director must be self-directed, demonstrate initiative, and take accountability for their development within Law Financial Aid including staying current on all federal policies. The ideal candidate works well as part of a team and enjoys counseling students.
- Awards financial aid and counsels prospective and current students, as well as alumni, with principal responsibility for LLM and other graduate programs in the School of Law.

- Acts as the primary back-up to the Senior Director and supports leadership within the Law Financial Aid Office.
- Stays current on all federal policies and demonstrates initiative, accountability, and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience required.
- Dedication to providing excellent customer service, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with extreme attention to detail and the capacity to multi-task.
- Creative self-starter with the ability to work with a variety of technologies and to exercise professional judgment in interpreting complex regulations and policies related to financial aid.
