Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Lawyering Program, Boston University School of Law Position Type

Full-Time/Regular

Salary

$ – $ (based on departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison)

Responsibilities
  • Teach two sections of approximately fifteen to twenty students, delivering classroom instruction and providing individual feedback on writing assignments.
  • Confer with students on major assignments and facilitate the feedback process.
  • Collaborate with a research librarian and 2L/3L Lawyering Fellows to support each section.
  • Attend program and faculty meetings, judge 1L moot court arguments, and perform faculty service to BU Law as assigned.
  • Maintain curricular latitude in selecting assignments while aligning with program‑wide assignments and exercises.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Prior legal practice, including judicial clerkships, is required.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills and a strong academic record.
  • Experience teaching legal writing or strong interest in entering the profession.
Benefits & Contract
  • Four‑year initial contract beginning July 1, 2027.
  • Voting rights on all academic matters and appointments for positions at the lecturer’s rank or below.
  • Potential for successive long‑term contracts including presumptively renewable contracts.
