Overview

Boston University invites applications for two full-time faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the School of Law. We are seeking candidates to join the Lawyering Program for the  academic year. The Program provides intensive instruction in legal research, writing, and analysis; introduces students to client interviewing and oral advocacy; and engages students in an in‑depth transactional simulation.

Responsibilities
  • Taught two sections of 15-20 students each, delivering classroom instruction and individualized feedback on writing assignments.
  • Conferenced with students on major assignments.
  • Collaborated with a research librarian and three 2L or 3L Lawyering Fellows.
  • Attended program and faculty meetings, judged 1L moot court arguments, and performed faculty service to BU Law as assigned.
  • Maintained substantial curricular latitude in selecting assignments.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Prior legal practice (or judicial clerkship).
  • Experience in legal‑writing instruction or interest in entering the profession.
Salary & Contract
  • Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 (commensurate with experience).
  • Initial four‑year contract beginning July 1 2027, with voting rights on all academic matters and on appointments at lecturer rank or below. Potential for successive renewable contracts.
