Position:
Full Time, 10-month position – onsite, Boston.

Summary:

The Baker Center for Children and Families promotes mental health for children and families. The Manville School seeks a Special Education Assistant Teacher to provide academic and behavioral support and carry out curriculum instruction under supervision of the special education teacher. The role includes lesson implementation, classroom behavior management, and participation in academic instruction while learning evidence‑based behavior management techniques.

Essential Duties
  • Plan and implement individualized and small group lessons in specific curriculum areas (1–2 content areas) under supervision of the special education teacher.
  • Develop and implement classroom behavior management plans with lead teacher and behavior support personnel.
  • Participate in daily classroom operation including academic instruction and management.
  • Use effective behavior management techniques consistent with the school‑wide model.
  • Promote positive self‑esteem and social growth through curriculum and behavioral structure.
  • Write quarterly progress reports based on Individualized Education Plans for students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (required).
  • Experience working with children/students with special needs, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint training required, or ability to attend annually.
  • Cover letter and recent resume required for consideration.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
