Position Overview:
Aide provides direct support to students with special education needs at KIPP Academy Boston Charter School. Working collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and school staff, the aide enhances classroom instruction and promotes academic and social growth for students on a caseload.
- Guide and assist individual students (1:1) or small groups with dedicated attention both in and outside the general class.
- Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, complement classroom instruction to maximize learning opportunities for students on a caseload, including:
- Assist teachers in creating curriculum modifications for specific students.
- Carry out lesson plans and assist with learning materials for Lead Teachers, Residents, and/or Fellows.
- Provide testing accommodations—supervise students completing tests in a separate location or with extended time.
- Review and correct student work assignments.
- Assist in the implementation of behavioral intervention plans using positive reinforcement strategies and behavior modification techniques.
- Support individual students in developing self‑advocacy skills.
- Facilitate social interactions and foster positive relationships among students, teachers, and peers.
- Continuously assess progress, communicate results clearly, and use data to inform decisions and set goals.
- Provide physical assistance to students as needed.
- Obtain required qualification within one year of hire:
Associate’s Degree, 48 college credit hours, or a Para Pro Assessment score of at least 464. - Provide aide coverage and support to other classrooms and grade levels as required.
- Be available for an extended workday as necessary to support colleagues, students, and families outside of school hours.
- Perform support duties including coverage, bus, lunch, and dismissal responsibilities.
- Collaborate with grade‑level teams to provide support, guidance, and advocacy concerning the caseload students.
- Maintain dependable attendance in accordance with the school calendar.
- Participate in regional professional development and community events as required.
- Demonstrate the ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, and make timely decisions in accordance with school needs.
- Exhibit self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence in a setting with students who express diverse needs.
- Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs of students, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Communicate effectively via written, verbal, and virtual platforms with students, staff, families, and others.
- Maintain physical mobility and strength to perform duties such as kneeling, walking, carrying up to 20 pounds, and restraining a student in emergencies.
- Possess manual dexterity to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and operate a computer and office equipment.
- Accept that additional duties may be assigned to promote a positive and safe learning environment and culture.

- Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and achievement and to create a warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environment (preferred).
- Associate’s Degree, 48 college credit hours, or Pass the Para Pro Assessment with a score of at least 464 within one year of hire.
- Experience and/or training in proper physical/tactical restraint procedures (preferred).
- Experience and/or training in proper ABA techniques for student support (preferred).
- Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite.
